Home > Exercise with the Whole Family
A great way to stay motivated is to get the entire family involved in an exercise routine. Exercise is good for people of all ages, and children always have extra energy to burn off. Aside from being a great workout, it can also be great family time as well.
The first step to family exercise is to find an activity that everyone can do. This may take a bit of creativity if you have a wide rang of ages in your family. Once you have found your activity, set the date. Commit to the date and begin your family exercise routine. Let everyone know what you have planned, and track your progress on paper so that everyone can see what they have accomplished.
Some great ideas for family exercise include:
Hikes
Hiking can be a wonderful activity for everyone to get involved in, and it is budget friendly too. An ideal location for your hike is the neighborhood park. You may also want to turn your hike into a scavenger hunt. Create a list of objects to look for on your hike before you leave. You can even have a small prize for the person who finds all of the items on the list.
Bike Riding
Bike riding is fun for the family and can be done right in your own neighborhood.
Dancing
Dancing can be fun for the entire family. Play some upbeat music and start moving. You can even have a dance competition.
Charity Walk or Run
Sign your family up to participate in a charity walk or run. Explain to everyone what you are raising money for, and begin training as a family.
No matter which exercise you decide to go with, family exercise is a great tool to teach your children how important it is to exercise, and how fun and easy it can be.
